Party of women, HDP, at parliament

NEWS DESK (DİHA) - Although election results are not final, the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) looks to be sending 31 women candidates to Parliament. The party ran a 48% women list, according to its principle of gender parity.

The women representatives range from defenders of headscarf rights to socialists and storied feminists to veterans of the Kurdish women's struggle. The female MPs are as follows:

Adana: Meral Danış Beştaş

Ağrı: Leyla Zana and Dirayet Taşdemir

Bitlis: Mizgin Irgat

Bursa: Asiye Kolçak

Diyarbakır: Nursel Aydoğan, Feleknas Uca, Sibel Yiğitalp and Çağlar Demirel

Erzurum: Seher Akçınar Bayar

Hakkari: Selma Irmak

Kars: Şafak Özanli

Mersin: Çilem Öz

İstanbul: Pervin Buldan, Beyza Üstün, Filiz Kerestecioğlu and Hüda Kaya

Mardin: Gülser Yıldırım and Enise Güneyli

Muş: Burcu Çelik

Siirt: Hatice Seviptekin

Dersim: Edibe Şahin

Urfa: Dilek Öcalan and Leyla Güven
