Our reporter receives 6 years of prison

- Kerboran (Dargeçit) reporter of our agency, Murat Verim, has been sued for “not being a member of organization but committing crime for them”. He has been sentenced to 6 years of prison at the first hearing of the trial.

Reporter of our agency, Murat Verim, working at Press and Public Relations Unit of Kerboran (Dargeçit) Municipality in Mêrdîn (Mardin), has been sued for “not being a member of organization but committing crime for them”. First hearing of the trial has been conducted.

After the hearing, conducted in Midyat High Criminal Court, court board has announced the decision in the wake of testimonies.

The court has sentenced Verim to 6 years of prison on charges of “not being a member of organization but committing crime for them”.

Verim and his lawyers will object to the decision by appealing to the Supreme Court.

Verim had been sued for “being member of organization” due to the heading “with self-governance to free identity” of the municipality bulletin which was prepared related to the activities of the unit he works.
