U.S. wins Women's World Cup

NEWS DESK (DİHA) - The U.S. women's soccer team has beaten rival Japan in a 5-2 match and won the 2015 Women's World Cup in Vancouver.

Last night's seven-goal match between the U.S. and Japan was the highest scoring final match in Women's World Cup history.Carli Lloyd, who scored a hat trick in the first 16 minutes of the game, was awarded the Golden Ball for the finest performance in the competition.

This was the second Women's World Cup final match-up between Japan and the U.S. in a row. Last time around, at the 2011 Women's World Cup, Japan beat the U.S. 3-1 after the match went into extended time. Japan became the first Asian team ever to win the Women's World Cup that year. This year, the U.S. defeated its rival Japan after a string of wins interrupted only by a draw with Sweden.

The final match was the last one for two of the game's most famous players: Homare Sawa of Japan and Abby Wambach of the U.S.
