DİYARBAKIR (DİHA) - Free Women’s Congress (KJA) released a written statement on Star newspaper’s targeting of HDP Co-president Figen Yüksekdağ. KJA condemned Star newspaper for its targeting of Figen Yüksekdağ that violates journalism ethics.

KJA stated that the coverage aims to hide the government’s attempts to hide its responsibility in the ISIS attacks on Kobanê and manipulate public opinion. KJA highlighted that the Star coverage portrays the need for increasing women’s struggle to resist patriarchal media discourses.

'They got scared that our call would be responded!'

KJA stated that Star newspaper’s attack also targeted the ‘Co-Presidency’ system and constitutes the continuation of the government’s ugly attacks against women. KJA emphasized its determination to resist such pro-status quo and brutal attacks until it yields results.

KJA pointed out that Yüksekdağ’s statement was addressing the people and the forces against the principle of Democratic Nation responded with their disdain for the developments on the Turkish-Rojava border. KJA stated that these forces naturally got scared that the people would respond the call for resistance against ISIS terror, which claimed the lives of innocent civilians during the holy of Ramadan and became the symbol of brutality and violence in the Middle East and the entire world.
