HAKKARİ (DİHA) – Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) General Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ, speaking to a crowd of tens of thousands in Hakkari, warns that the AKP has openly announced its intention to attack the HDP.

With Turkey's election approaching this Sunday, June 7th, the HDP is continuing its effort to enter the Parliament and stop the AKP's plans to change the country's political system. Nearly every day of the past week has brought the news of a new fascist attack or coordinated provocation—the most recent being the bombing in Diyarbakır. At the HDP's rally in Erzurum, a gang of around 1,000 fascists organized by the Grey Wolves and the AKP youth brutally attacked the rally. Recently, AKP politician Efkan Ala said that: "on the evening of June 7th, we need to solve this at the root."

HDP General Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ called the statement "a confession" that the AKP plans to throw the entire country and the elections process into chaos on elections day and afterward. She noted that 150 HDP supporters have been arrested in recent days—a wave of arrests that has been particularly intense in the provinces of Hakkari and Şırnak, in which she was speaking today.

'An organized attempt at a massacre'

"The gangsters in Erzurum admit their crimes and their crimes are clear; yet not one of them has been arrested," she said. "Neither the political power nor the president has said a single word on this. They're protecting those who attack us. Those fascists are so cowardly that they don't even have the courage to attack us. This has been an organized attempt at a massacre.

'We will not fall into their traps'

"With our mature and democratic stance, we will not fall into their traps," she promised. "We will resist until the last minute. They can't stop us with attacks and terror."
