Recep Tayyip Erdoğan out, Celadet Ali Bedirxan in

VAN (DİHA) - The boulevard called Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has been named after Kurdish literaturer Celadet Ali Bedirxan with the verdict of assembly of municipality in Erciş district of Van.

The Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Erciş Municipality changed the name of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Boulevard which is at the entrance of Up TOKİ homes. The new name of the boulevard is Celadet Ali Bedirxan, a famous Kurdish literaturer. A press explanation was made at the entrance of boulevard with the participation of Erciş Municipality Co-mayors Abdurrahman Çağan and Diba Keskin, BDP District Head Ahmet Akmaz, BDP executives and municipality council members.

Bedirxan pioneers Kurdish literature

One minute silence was held here in memory of all those who lost their lives in the struggle of freedom and democracy. Speaking in the wake of one minute silence, Erciş Municipality Co-mayor Abdurrahman Çağan told the life story of Celadet Ali Bedirxan and drew attention on his importance in Kurdish literature. Çağan reminded that Bedirxan prepared and formed Hawar journal on 15 May 1932.

'Each people has some values and truths'

Later on, Erciş Municipality Co-mayor Diba Keskin added: "Each people has some values and truths. These values and truths must be known by the people. Bedirxan wrote and read in the languages of Turkish, Kurdish, Arabic and Persian. He did translations. He also sent a letter to Atatürk and attracted on the defending all peoples in his letter. This letter is still actual and valid."
