The Mesopotamia Cultural Centre (MKM) in Van, whose building was destroyed in the earthquake of 2011, has reopened. The MKM intends to commence courses on 15 February. More than 100 people have enrolled for courses such as guitar, flute, saz, violin, piano and drama. Training, research and archive units have been set up with the aim of providing a more cohesive programme for the courses.

The famous Greek poet Homeros' Iliad work was translated into Kurdish by Archaeologist Fecri Polat who conducted his studies within the body of Trioa Union and Turkish teacher Kamuran Demir. Polat, "I can say easily that the language best meeting Iliad became Kurdish on grounds of both rich meaning power contributed by verbal custom and the flexibilty and richness of the Kurdish language" noted.

Artist and singer İkbal Kaynar, who sings songs on 6 different languages in her album called by "Ebruli Şarkılar" (Mottled Songs), has stated that she was reacted by her citizens in the wake of releasing of the album.
