Women commemorates Elçi and massacred in Sur

DİYARBAKIR (DİHA) - KÖM members who has visited Sur district, commemorated Diyarbakır Bar President Tahir Elçi and people who were massacred in Sur, by making statement in front of Dört Ayaklı Minare (Qaudruped Minaret).

Gathering from Ankara and İstanbul, 10 women, members of KÖM (Women Freedom Assembly) Truth and Monitoring Committee has come to Diyarbakır for following and reporting what happens in Sur. Women who will carry on a work for 2 days, first of all have made a statement in front of Dört Ayaklı Minare (Qaudruped Minaret) in Sur. They left carnations in commemoration of Diyarbakır Bar President Tahir Elçi who was massacred there and people who lost their lives in Sur. Deniz Lodos who came up with an explanation in behalf of the committe said that they have come for peace and will struggle for it.

Remarking latest process Lodos said : “Coming to Sur which is under curfew for 4 months, we wanted to see the destructions and the place where Tahir Elçi was shot. Here, people were suffered and tens of them were forced to leave their houses and quit.”

Emphasizing that they disclaim the attacks against people Lodos said: “Today and tomorrow we will keep on struggling".

KÖM member Gülsüm Ağaoğlu commemorating Tahir Elçi, said: “Peace will come here, we believe in this” as well.
