DİYARBAKIR (DİHA) - Huge blasts are taking place in Diyarbakır's central Sur district where attacks by state forces ongoing since last night have intensified as of early morning hours.

As the curfew and onslaught in the district continues in its 48th day, sounds of huge blasts and heavy arms are heard from the district which is covered with smokes and witnessing helicopter activity.

Clashes also continue between state forces and Civil Defense Units (YPS) protecting the neighborhoods where people declared self-rule.

A cannon shell fired by Turkish military forces hit Hacı Hamit Mosque, known as "White Minaret", in Savaş neighborhood, leaving a minaret completely demolished. The aggression has also damaged several historical churches in the same neighborhood.

Some historical residences in the district have also collapsed and their ruins are being evacuated with trucks working for the state-run State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) that have been dispatched to the area.
