Urgent call for Silopi and Cizre
ŞIRNAK (DİHA) - Şırnak branches of DBP and HDP have called for urgent action for Silopi and Cizre districts where people are under a threat of imminent massacre.
DBP Şırnak branch co-chair Yahya İdin, HDP Şırnak branch co-chair Sekvan Kılıç, HDP deputies Leyla Birlik, İbrahim Ayhan, Adem Geveri and HDP PM (Party Assembly) member Yuhanna Aktaş joined a press conference which addressed to the public opinion of Turkey regarding the critical situation in Silopi and Cizre which remain under a curfew and onslaught by Turkish forces for 23 uninterrupted days.
Speaking here, DBP Şırnak branch co-chair Yahya İdin warned that; “Especially Silopi is facing a threat of imminent massacre at the moment. Whoever will act, must act right now”. İdin recalled that around 50 people have been killed and hundreds of others were wounded as the curfew and onslaught in Cizre and Silopi has left 23 days behind. He noted that the aggression has also displaced thousands of people, and described the current situation in these towns to the 90's that witnessed similar mass killings, evacuation and burning down of villages.
İdin called particular attention to Silopi where -he said- the aggression has reached the level of massacre as the town has been encircled and is being shelled from four sides now.
Addressing to the patriotic and democratic public opinion, peoples of Kurdistan and Turkey, and the Kurdish people living in Europe, İdin called for urgent action to stop an imminent massacre in Silopi.
İdin also called upon the people living in Serhat region to act immediately and rise up against this atrocity, and invited the people of Şırnak to ensure mass participation in the march for Cizre and Silopi which will take place tomorrow.
