Turkish police seize hospital in Şırnak
ŞIRNAK (DİHA) - Dozens have been killed by state forces committing atrocity against the people in Cizre and Silopi districts of Şırnak for two weeks. Their bodies are being held in Şırnak State Hospital's morgue which is already overcrowded by now.
While those wounded are also referred to Şırnak for treatment, the main State Hospital has been blockaded by police forces today. Besides detaining the wounded civilians coming from Cizre and Silopi, police also hinder visits to those already hospitalized. The hospital administration says “We are under blockade. We have no authority.” Despite having no legal basis for this action, police teams are also putting pressure on the hospital management and not allowing the staff to provide any information to anyone.
Civilian Suat Evşin, who was shot and wounded by special operation police in Cizre, and Hasan Uysal, who was similarly shot in Silopi's Cudi neighborhood, are still receiving treatment at hospital, now under police supervision. Evşin's father Muhammed Evşin said they have been provided with no explanation regarding the police intervention.
Another civilian Uysal who was shot by snipers in Silopi's Cudi neighborhood, said his friends who could hardly take him out of the town and bring to hospital in Şırnak were detained by police upon their arrival at hospital. “We do not know why they were detained and where they are now”, he said.
In the meantime, police refuse to provide any information regarding detentions, nor to show any official permission for the execution of this action which is imposed on every person coming from Silopi and Cizre.
On the other hand, police have virtually seized the authorities of the hospital administration and office of the chief physician. It grabs attention that the chief physician, after a talk with a policeman inside hospital, strictly refused to talk to reporters without governor's permission.
An official at hospital administration said; “This is an extraordinary situation. We are under blockade and have no authorities”, revealing the dimension of the siege by state forces across the Kurdish region, which also affects the public institutions that have recently been involved in this war against Kurds.
