NEWS DESK (DİHA) - PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) has released a statement demanding the end of the Turkish state’s attacks against guerrilla forces, and calling upon the government of South Kurdistan to make efforts against these attacks.

PUK politburo noted that the attacks were planned in advance and demanded the end of the Turkish state’s bombardments targeting Medya Defense Zones. PUK also called upon political groups in South Kurdistan to meet and discuss this issue.

Noting that Turkish warplanes have been bombing PKK forces and civilians in different parts of South Kurdistan, PUK said that the attacks came after three years of official talks and demanded the Turkish state to end its attacks on Kurdistan.

PUK emphasized that Kurdish people, peshmergas and guerillas have been fighting ISIS and the failure of this fight would have undesirable consequences in the future. PUK argued that the end of Turkish state attacks would strengthen the front against terrorism, and asked the PKK to continue its revolutionary stance and refrain from immediate reflexes and reactions. PUK highlighted that AKP had the responsibility of preventing the goals of forces that show enmity both in Turkey and in the region.

'Regional government must make efforts against attacks'

PUK called upon the government of Federal Kurdistan to make efforts against the attacks and invited all political groups in South Kurdistan to meet and discuss this issue since coalitions meant the collective addressing of problems. PUK ended its statement by emphasizing that western countries and the European Union had a crucial role to play in the solution of political problems such as this one.
