Balance sheet of war over past 3 months: 104 gangs killed
SHENGAL (DİHA) - HPG reported that the Turkish army increased its attacks and the ISIS gangs in Shengal experienced heavy losses over the past 3 months.
HPG Media Center (HPG-BİM) released a report on Turkish army attacks and Shengal resistance over the past three months. According to the report, the Turkish army increased its attacks and the gangs in Shengal experienced heavy losses.
HPG-BİM stated that the Turkish army violated the truce and increased its military activities since the beginning of spring. HPG emphasized that its forces have shown extreme discipline and care because of the Democratic Solution Initiative developed by "Leader Apo and the Kurdish Freedom Movement". However, the Turkish army increased its activities since the beginning of spring and violated the truce. HPG stated that Turkish air strikes on June 30 were the first air bombardment since 2013 and unilaterally ended the truce. The Turkish military increased its land operations and ambushes, whereas Turkish drones increased their reconnaissance flights. HPG underlined that Medya Defense Areas have been under constant attack since the spring.
HPG-BİM stated that the Turkish army carried out 429 reconnaissance flights, 69 land operations and 133 artillery attacks during April, May and June. Also, there were 151 aerial activity attempts during this period.
HPG-BİM stated that 14 clashes broke out and HPG guerillas carried out 4 attacks over the past 3 months. 7 soldiers were killed and 14 soldiers were wounded during these clashes. 9 guerillas fell as martyrs since April.
HPG-BİM stated that ISIS has increased its attacks on Shengal, and guerillas’ operations in Shengal would continue until the town is liberated. HPG stated that HPG-YJA Star guerillas, YBŞ-YBJ Shengal forces, MLKP fighters and Peshmergas have pushed ISIS back and liberated many parts of the town. 59 clashes took place during this resistance, where 6 guerillas lost their lives and 104 ISIS gangs were killed. 2 ISIS trucks and 8 enemy vehicles were destroyed, and 9 vehicles were partially destroyed.
HPG-BİM stated that coalition airplanes bombed more than 100 ISIS locations over the past 3 months, but it did not received any information on the results of these attacks. HPG said that it would respond to all attacks on Kurdish people, especially those carried out by the Turkish army in Northern Kurdistan. HPG emphasized "its determination to continue its struggle in a spirit of pro-Apo sacrifice until victory, and reserved its right to retaliate to the attacks carried out on Kurdistan People’s Defense Forces."
