Buldan calls on AKP: You can either be on side of war or that of peace
ISTANBUL (DİHA) - After members of the Daesh gang massacred more than 150in the Rojava city of Kobanê on Thursday, politicians, union leaders and activists have declared their suspicion of the AKP's involvement in the attack.
On Thursday, members of the Daesh gang entered the city of Kobanê, in the Rojava (Western Kurdistan) region of Syria, and massacred civilians in several locations. The most likely point from which the gangs entered the city appears to be via the border gate with Turkey. Protestors across Turkey yesterday denounced Turkey for supporting Daesh and threatening peace in the Middle East.
Hundreds gathered yesterday in Istanbul's central Galatasaray Square to denounce the massacre. Prominent figures from political groups and labor unions in Turkey joined the gathering.
'AKP has laid groundwork for massacre'
Sebahat Tuncel, the co-speaker of the Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), said the AKP's vehement claims not to have been involved in the massacre are "unrealistic." She recalled the ways that the AKP has laid the groundwork for the massacre—in headlines declaring the YPG to be a threat, in the production and transportation of weapons to Daesh and in other ways.
"We're reminding you again: you can either be on the side of war or that of peace. What we recommend is that you be on the side of peace," said Pervin Buldan, the parliamentary representative for the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) from Istanbul.
