At least 12 dead in Daesh attack on Kobanê
KOBANÊ (DİHA) - 12 civilians have died and 35 were wounded in an early morning attack by Daesh gangs on the city of Kobanê, in Rojava.
According to reporters from the news agency ANHA on the ground in the city of Kobanê, at least 12 civilians have been killed in a Daesh attack on Kobanê. The attack was launched from the Turkish border, with gang members attacking from three sides. Reporters say that Daesh gangs in the city opened fire indiscriminately on civilians and military forces alike in the attack.35 civilians, the majority of them women and children, have been wounded.
The city of Kobanê, in the autonomous Rojava region of Syria, became famous when YPG/YPJ fighters successfully resisted heavy Daesh attacks on the city. After the liberation of the city center in January 2015 after months of fighting, civilians began returning to the city center in large numbers.
YPG/YPJ and asayish (peacekeeping) forces have begun an operation in several regions of the city to stop the gang members. There are currently ongoing clashes between YPG/YPJ forces and Daesh gang members in the city of Kobanê.
