NEWS DESK (DİHA) - Cemil Bayık stated that election results would bring forth important political changes in Turkey. Bayık described June 7 results as not just an HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) success but also a turning point for political transformation in Turkey.

KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council Co-president Cemil Bayık spoke to ANF and evaluated the June 7 general election. Bayık described HDP as the most successful party of the elections and the only hope for Turkey’s future. Recalling the hegemonic authoritarianism of AKP, CHP’s insistence on old policies and MHP’s racist and nationalist character, Bayık said that HDP has the potential to lead the future of Turkey.

Bayık emphasized that HDP brought forth a historic change by bringing together democracy forces, leftist groups, and different ethnic and religious communities; a task that had previously been viewed as impossible. Bayık congratulated HDP for bringing together today’s resistance with the Liberation Struggle that has been going on for 90 years.

‘Erdoğan, AKP and others learned their lesson'

Bayık praised HDP’s success in bringing together all communities wanting freedom and democracy, and said that AKP began to employ special war tactics after its electoral defeat. Bayık emphasized that Erdoğan, AKP and others learned their lesson, and could no longer continue their current authoritarian and arrogant perspective. Bayık stated that all Kurds supported HDP, which made Leader Apo and the Kurdish Freedom Movement as the representatives of Kurdish people.

'Leader Apo is architect of HDP'

Bayık reminded that it was the Democratic Nation project that brought HDP’s election success, and Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan was the architect of this project. Bayık stressed the importance of expanding HDP principles and organization immediately.

‘HDP success placed great responsiblity on our movement'

Bayık stated that the HDP success placed great responsibility on the Kurdish Freedom Movement, and strengthened the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue.

‘Women's success in HDP will change character of politics in Turkey'

Bayık praised the election of 32 HDP woman candidates into the parliament, and said that this success will change the character of politics in Turkey and overcome the political tensions that come with competition inside the parliament.

KCK Executive Council Co-president Cemil Bayık also commented on the impact of election results in North Kurdistan on other parts of the country, and described the support from peoples of South, West, and East Kurdistan as well as Europe as important steps for national unity. Bayık criticized groups such as KDP that chose to support AKP, which has been waging a special war against Kurdish people and the Freedom Movement, instead of supporting HDP.

‘AKP defeat is defeat of status quo and ISIS’

Bayık stated that HDP ensured the union of Kurdish people in North Kurdistan, and the election victory would have important consequences on Turkey’s Syria and Middle East policies. Bayık described the AKP defeat as the defeat of status quo and ISIS, and said that no coalition government would be able to continue supporting ISIS. Bayık added that HDP’s Democratic Nation principle would have an impact on Syria and the Middle East in general.

‘HDP success will have impact on entire region'

Bayık emphasized that the impact of HDP success would not be limited to Rojava, and HDP would reduce the Turkish state’s role and participation in regional wars to a minimum. Bayık said that Turkey wants to end the Baathist regime in Syria so that a Sunni government comes to power and expands Turkey’s ideological and political perspective in the region. Bayık said that this was why western forces objected to Turkey’s ambitions, along with the proofs on Turkish support to ISIS, Al Nusra and Ahrar El Şam.

'HDP success will strengthen forces of democracy in Middle East'

Bayık described the AKP government and Turkey as the main obstacles to any positive development in the Middle East, and said that the HDP success will strengthen forces of democracy in the region. Bayık stated that the project of Democratic Nation would strengthen peoples, and end oppression and violence in the region.
