MARDİN (DİHA) - HDP General Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş addressed to tens of thousands of people at his party's election rally in southeastern province of Mardin. "We are required to bring into line those suffering hubris syndrome," said Demirtaş, calling for mobilization for the safety of ballot boxes. Demirtaş said, "If we provide the security of the ballot boxes, then we will have no problem of election threshold".

HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) General Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş addressed to tens of thousands of people at his party's election rally in southeastern province of Mardin today. The massive crowds of people danced halays for hours and bore the flags of HDP.

As the square was full of people, hundreds of people took the roof, balconies and windows of nearby buildings. The mass often shouted the slogan of "Long live Leader Apo", "Long live fraternity of peoples" and slogans in support of the HDP in the rally.

'AKP mentality cultivated Daesh barbaric gangs'

After saluting tens of thousands of people in the rally, Demirtaş said, "We are not running in only an election campaign. We are working for peace and joint life. HDP is Mardin, paradise of peoples, beliefs, and languages. And Mardin is HDP. HDP has become hope for all the peoples of the country, become assurance of peace. AKP's monist policies are damaging this country. AKP mentality cultivated Daesh barbaric gangs. So, you can understand HDP more. Each street of Mardin has another colour. It's the garden of flowers. Now, the HDP is the garden of flowers".

'We are on the knife’s edge'

With the parliamentary elections only four days away, HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş has said he could not say with inner peace that his party would pass the 10 percent election threshold, adding they were “on the knife’s edge.” “According to data that has reached us, the HDP stands on the knife’s edge. I wish we could have said with inner peace that the HDP has passed the 10 percent threshold,” said Demirtaş.

The HDP decided to enter the June 7 elections as a party, unlike their former practice of running for parliament as independent deputy candidates under a block, just as they did at the 2011 general elections, out of fear of not being able to pass the 10 percent threshold.

'One vote will change many things in the elections'

Demirtaş, who had also run for the presidency during the country’s first ever vote to directly elect a president, along with HDP co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ, had said they would enter the June 7 elections as a party and were confident they would pass the threshold. Underlining to be a party embracing all of society, Demirtaş said one vote would change many things in the elections.

'HDP’s rise will be hope for Turkey'

“I ask from all of Turkey, we want the ‘being good state’ to prevail at the end of the elections,” Demirtaş said. “The HDP’s rise will be hope for Turkey. This is not just the victory yet. We have road to walk. We should work and campaign more and more. If Mardin province is ready with this joy and massive rally, then we are ready for Great Humanity, ” he added.

Call for safety of ballot boxes

"We are required to bring into line those suffering hubris syndrome," said Demirtaş, calling for mobilization for the safety of ballot boxes. Demirtaş said, "If we provide the security of the ballot boxes, then we will have no problem of election threshold".
