BİTLİS (DİHA) - Demirtaş saluted Kurdish and Turkish people who have been able to live together peacefully despite the difficult history and conditions they have had as well as the oppression and tortures they have endured.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-president Selahattin Demirtaş spoke at the HDP rally in Bitlis. Demirtaş saluted Kurdish and Turkish people who have been able to live together peacefully despite the difficult history and conditions they have had as well as the oppression and tortures they have endured.

'Hope of freedom for oppressed people'

Demirtaş described the crowds in Bitlis as the hope of freedom for oppressed people and Turkey at large. Emphasizing their determination to enter the parliament, Demirtaş said that they bring together everyone who believes in freedom, equality and justice, and are determined to carry these different groups into the parliament.

'We are guided by common sense and conscience'

Demirtaş rebuked the claims that a ‘higher mind’ in the US or Israel is guiding the HDP and said that those who fabricate such lies think that they are the only ones with a mind of their own. Demirtaş said that they are guided by common sense and conscience, as well as the people’s decision to live in peace and sisterhood in Turkey. Demirtaş emphasized that they are prepared to govern Turkey together with this common sense, and will not prioritize one identity or religious sect but embrace all members of Turkish society sincerely.
Demirtaş highlighted the representation of different religions and peoples within the HDP. He also criticized those who identify as Islamist and attack other religions and sects.

'They are inventing a new criterion for being Muslim'

HDP Co-president described the smear campaign against the HDP, portraying the party as ‘Zoroastrian’, ‘infidel’ and ‘faithless,’ as the path of Yezid (a well known evil symbol and dictator in Islamic history). Demirtaş emphasized their equal approach to Alevis and Sunnis, and vowed to advocate the rights of all religious groups against the thieves currently in power. Demirtaş criticized the AKP strategy of describing non-AKP voters as infidels and said that they are inventing a new criterion for being Muslim.

'We will stop aid flowing into ISIS rapists and barbarians'

Demirtaş ended his speech with peaceful messages and said that they will continue their struggle until they succeed and bird sounds replace bullet noises in the mountains. Demirtaş stated that they would stop the aid flowing into ISIS rapists and barbarians with MIT (Turkish Intelligence Agency) trucks, and advocate peace across the Middle East.
