Women telling 'Great Humanity'

MERSİN (DİHA) - The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) running for the June 7th parliamentary elections mirrors its resolve to embrace different segments of society in order to reach its ambitious goal of exceeding the 10 percent election threshold.

Out of the 550 seats in the parliament, nominees for 268 of them were allocated to women by the HDP as one of the party’s priorities was gender equality. The HDP list presents a portrait of the "other Turkey" not seen in those of the mainstream parties.

'Party of women'

The HDP women are ongoing their campaign and telling the call for "Great Humanity" in southern province of Mersin. One of the HDP volunteers, woman named Seyhan Yıldırım, is going from door to door and telling the manifest of HDP to the locals. Yıldırım defined the HDP as "party of women". "Women can express themselves only in the HDP. We are campaigning everyhwere. The floating voters are near HDP. The policy of HDP is pro-worker, pro-women and pro-people," added she.

'We will be able to run our rhymes at parliament'

Gurbet Ata is leaving her children at her house and conducting election campaign for the HDP. Ete told this, "I am working for my children's future. Do not let mothers to cry anymore. We do not want anymore bloodshed. We must work hard to pass the election threshold. When the HDP enters the parliament, we will be able to run our rhymes at parliament".

'Supports comes everywhere'

Gulistan Turan and 10 other her woman friends are campaigning in Akdeniz district of Mersin. "We are meeting with voters one by one. Lots of CHP voters gave up from their party and promised to vote HDP this times. Women will support HDP to say 'stop' to rape, abuse and violence," said Turan, calling on women to support HDP for their future.
