Koçer people looking for a way to go to the polls

ŞIRNAK (DİHA) - The Koçer people, who go to flatlands in the spring and summer months in order to grass down, asked for the HDP to provide shepherds and support for them for June 7th elections.

While the deputy candidates of the HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) are ongoing their election campaign from villages to city centers, one of the major questions of the elections is the matter of hundreds of thousands of seasonal workers and Koçer people. HDP is expected to organize a planning for upcoming June 7th general elections.

Call on HDP for support

Nearly 200 Koçer people in Kato and Kêla Memê mountains in Silopi district of Şırnak are looking for a way to go to the polls on June 7th general elections. The Koçer people defined upcoming elections of carrying crucial importance. They asked for the HDP to provide shepherds and support for them for June 7th elections. 23-year-old Ahret Şeflek said, "We want to go to the polls and vote for HDP. But we have to graze our animals here. If someone graze them for only election day, then we can go to the polls."

'Let all the koçers go to the polls'

I am calling on all the koçer people to go to the polls as the HDP can pass the election threshold easily, noted Ahmedê Xelil and added, "Let all the koçers go to the polls. We are calling on also the HDP. They must provide aid for us". One of woman koçers, Berivan Tayboğa, stated, "HDP is our party, party of women. Upcoming election is vital especially for women. If necessary we will go to the polls on foot".

'We are here in virtue of Leader Apo, not AKP'

69-year-old Abdurahman Hesin said they would go to the polls and vote for HDP under all conditions. "There is no difference between the AKP and previous ruling parties. Prime Minister Davutoglu claimed they abolished the state of emergency. We have been exposed to oppression of state till 2013 Newroz. We could come to here after historical declaration of Leader Apo. We are here in virtue of Leader Apo, not AKP," concluded he.
