ISTANBUL (DİHA) - "The assailant of these attacks has gone to Syria and left there after staying in an ISIS-held area with an acquaintance in ISIS for some time, Demirtaş said regarding the bomb attacks on HDP offices in Mersin and Adana.

HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) Co-President and Istanbul MP Candidate Selahattin Demirtaş commented the ongoing attacks on the party during a visit to taxi-drivers in Esenyurt district of Istanbul.

Answering the questions of the reporters covering his visits, HDP Co-president, on being asked what he thought about Deputy Prime Minister's remarks that “the process of resolution would end if HDP exceeded the threshold”, said that; “No, it is the AKP itself that would end if HDP achieved to do so. Why would the process of resolution end while the whole society in Turkey wants peace? The seek for peace and resolution will become permanent as HDP gets stronger in the parliament. The process of resolution isn't dependent on AKP's presence. AKP officials' remarks refusing to make peace in the event of their weakening and losing power reveal their insincerity towards the achievement of peace. We say that we will not give up on peace even if we remain under the election threshold, while the AKP says that the process of resolution will end if they lose power. The peace of this country is not dependent on them, nor their gaining power. It is much more valuable than all of us.”

Asked about Turkish President Erdoğan's remarks on the process of resolution and the HDP, Demirtaş recalled that the HDP was targeted by attacks in 114 places, in addition to the armed attack on its headquarters and bomb attacks on offices in Mersin and Adana.

“As we spread the sense of peace and fraternity across the country, the high-strung ones are attacking the HDP. We are acting patiently to help these provocations fail and we will continue doing so”, Demirtaş said.

'Bomb attacks point to AKP'

Regarding the bomb attacks on HDP offices in Mersin and Adana, Demirtaş criticized the confidentiality ruled on the case, adding; “The public should know about the details of the incident, and the identity of the assailant if it has been ascertained. According to the reports we have received, the assailant of these attacks has gone to Syria and left there after staying in an ISIS-held area with an acquaintance in ISIS for some time. The assailant whom they argue is a member of DHKP-C is in relation with the ISIS in Syria, as is revealed by the information we have. The AKP officials remain silent but all the happenings point to the AKP, not the HDP.”

According to the statements of Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and Ministry of the Interior, the bomb attacks in Mersin and Adana were carried out by 32-year-old Savaş Yıldız, born in Van, who was arrested for alleged ties with DHKP-C and acquitted in 2008.

On the other hand, witness HDP member Yaşar Demir who went to the police department yesterday to identify the assailant said that it was not the person whose photographs were shown to him by police that came to the HDP office to leave the pot of flowers in which the bomb had been placed.
