German Green Party calls on voters to support HDP

NEWS DESK (DİHA) - The German Green Party (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) has voiced support for the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in the general elections to take place in Turkey and North Kurdistan on 7 June.

In a press briefing published in German, Kurdish and Turkish, the party called on voters to go to the polls and vote for the HDP for a Turkey guaranteeing the democratic rights of all citizens, freedom of religion, an open and free civil society, offering a hopeful perspective for the youths, ensuring gender equality, protecting the nature and serving a peaceful resolution to the Kurdish question for the ending of the conflict in the country.

Voicing trust in HDP for the achievement of the above-mentioned political goals, the Green Party stressed that the values of freedom, justice, sustainability, peace and solidarity defended by the democratic forces under the HDP also corresponded to the principles defended by them.

Highlighting a wish for the involvement of the Turkish state in the European Union, the party pointed out that the HDP would also do good for the Turkish Parliament and the entire Turkey.

The Green Party emphasised that HDP's presence in the Parliament would offer a new chance for the political and social life in Turkey, and also new perspectives for the democratization and resolution process in the country.

Recalling that the Turkish Green Party, Yeşiller Sol Gelecek Partisi (Greens and the Left Party of the Future) would take part in these elections not as a party but under the HDP alliance which it supported with all its capacity, the party voiced gladness over this alliance and called for support.

The German Green Party ended its statement by calling on people in Germany to cast their votes till 31 May and support the candidates of the Peoples' Democratic Party.
