Koçer people: We want to go to the polls

- The Koçer people, who go to flatlands in the spring and summer months in order to grass down, asked for the HDP to provide vehicles and support for them for June 7th elections.

While the deputy candidates of the HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) are ongoing their election campaign from villages to city centers, one of the major questions of the elections is the matter of hundreds of thousands of seasonal workers and Koçer people. HDP is expected to organize a planning for upcoming June 7th general elections.

One vehicle, one shepherd...

Twenty Koçer people - seasonal migrants - in Botan Valley of Siirt said that they wanted to go to the polls, demanding support from the HDP. The Koçers go to flatlands in the spring and summer months in order to pasture their animals.

One of the Koçers, 33-year-old Faysal Nazlı, told they would applied to HDP Tatvan district organization. "We can go to the polls if they provide one vehicle and one shepherd for few hours on June 7th. We want to vote in a way. There are thousands more having the same problem like us," he added.

'If you want, you can vote'

Hüsnü Nazlı underlined the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) had lost the municipal elections as the Koçer people did not go to the polls. "Wherever you are, if you want you can go and vote. We do not go to polls. Threfore, the votes of Kurds are always lack. And for this AKP and state are threatening us with election threshold," indicated she, calling all seasonal workers and Koçer people to go to the polls.

The HDP officials in Siirt said that they would do their best to provide the Koçer people with opportuinities to vote.
