NEWS DESK (DİHA) - KCK Executive Council Member and HSM Commander Murat Karayılan said PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan had once again been isolated, adding: "For us this is a justification for war."

KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council Member and People’s Defence Centre (HSM) Commander, Murat Karayılan, has made crucial evaluations regarding the process of resolution. He said PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) Leader Abdullah Öcalan had once again been isolated, adding: "For us this is a justification for war."

Murat Karayılan evaluated the war against ISIS, the situation in Sinjar, Kurdish national unity, the uprising in Mahabad, the process of revolution and the 7 June elections for the Yeni Özgür Politika newspaper.

Karayılan said the re-introduction of the policy of isolating PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan was dangerous, adding: ''Meetings with Abdullah Öcalan have been stopped for over a month. We cannot get news from İmralı. For us isolation is a reason for war.”

'We are awaiting Öcalan's order’

Karayılan said the AKP had broken the ceasefire and that the Turkish army had tried to prepare the ground for clashes in several areas. He added: ''We are trying to avoid being dragged into provocations. We are adhering to the unilateral ceasefire. As the HPG (People's Defense Forces) we are awaiting Leader Apo's order. We are maintaining the ceasefire, but everyone should realise that everything has a limit.”

'Erdoğan intervened in the process'

Karayılan said that after the joint declaration at the Dolmabahçe Palace and the declaration by Öcalan at Newroz, democratic forces had united around the HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party). “When Erdoğan realised his plans were not going to achieve the desired result he intervened in the process,” he added.

'Turkish army has been mobilised'

“Erdoğan halted the process by saying: ‘There is no Kurdish question’. This was followed by the provocation on Tendürek and attacks on the HDP. The army has been mobilised in several areas,” he added. Karayılan said the elections offered a clear choice between dictatorship and democracy, and that the HJDP offered a great opportunity to democratic and socialist forces in Turkey, which they should grasp.

Joint command against ISIS essential

Karayılan said the Kurds had, through their resistance, demolished the perception that ISIS was invincible. He added that ISIS was the project of forces wanting to re-occupy Kurdistan, and that Turkey was prominent among these forces. He said that the HPG, YPG and YPJ forces had prevented an even bigger massacre on Mount Sinjar, adding that in order to liberate Sinjar a joint command structure was necessary. He described coalition bombing raids on ISIS positions in Sinjar as ‘positive, but insufficient.’

Karayılan said that they had played a part on all fronts in the resistance against ISIS attacks on South Kurdistan as they saw themselves as responsible for defending the gains of the Kurdish people. “Today it is possible to talk of a stronger unity between guerrillas and peshmerga than ever before. Political unity should be constructed on this basis. Although there are some aspects that can be criticised, the basis exists for ensuring better relations,” he added.

'Mahabad demonstrated its patriotism'

Karayılan also assessed the uprising in Mahabad after the death of Ferînaz Xosrawanî. He said they were closely following developments in East Kurdistan. He said that, just as in Kobanê, where Kurdish women in the vanguard of the resistance had been targeted, in Mahabad what had occurred was a colonialist attack on a Kurdish woman. He added that the people of Mahabad had demonstrated their patriotism and humanity by rising up. Karayılan said the Iranian regime should halt its oppression of the Kurdish people and seek a solution.
