NEWS CENTER – Women in Northern and Western Kurdistan held marches condemning the Iranian regime for the death of young Kurdish woman Ferinaz in the city of Mahabad, Iran.

The death of Ferinaz Xosrawanî, who lost her life trying to escape a rape attempt by an Iranian intelligence officer, launched an uprising in her city of Mahabad, Eastern Kurdistan (Iran).

Rojava women marched for Ferinaz in the city of Efrîn, led by the Young Women's Movement and the women's group Yekîtiya Star. The women carried signs reading "Iran and Daeş are one" and chanted slogans greeting the Mahabad uprising. Canton council members were also in attendance.

In the eastern city of Ağrı, in Northern Kurdistan, the Congress of Free Women (KJA) held a march and press conference. The group, promising to continue their struggle against all forms of oppression of women, condemned the Iranian state policies of sexual violence against Kurdish women. "To states that implement rape regimes, we say: 'your end is near,'" said the women.
