'Ferinaz has laid bare indifference of masculine violence'

ANKARA (DİHA) - Since the death of Ferinaz Xosrawanî, 26, in her attempt to escape a rape attempt by Iranian state security forces (Itlaat), Kurdish women across the world have stood up against the regime's rape policies and are calling for support.

Ferinaz Xosrawanî was a Kurdish young woman and a worker at the Tara Hotel, in Mahabad city of Eastern Kurdistan. Locals say Iranian intelligence forces had guaranteed a fifth star for the four-star Tara Hotel in exchange for a "rendezvous" with Ferinaz, who did not learn of the plans for her until she was locked in a room with an intelligence officer. She fell from a window trying to escape the rape.

Kav: Let world witness that women are dying for their rights

Her death has left a massive rage among women against male and state mentality. We Will Halt Woman Murders Platform (KCDP) Speaker Gülsüm Kav said rape, harassment, and violence towards women have increased recenlty in all the world, adding social reaction against this has also increased. Kav added the 21st century would be the "century of women".

"Kurdish women are conducting a struggle in Kobanê in memory of all humanity against enemy of humanism Daesh gangs. Let all the world witness that women are dying for their rights," concluded she.

Öztürk: Struggle of woman is marching against male dominance

Assistant Professor Doctor Melda Yaman Öztürk condemned the worldwide violence towards women and continued her speech, "Masculine violence is spreading day after day. It takes power from patriarchal system. Patriarchal inequality in daily life, legal and official regulations is embittering violence. As if this world was of men. Struggle of women is conducted against this system, and it will change it sooner or later."

Ferinaz Xosrawani has laid bare indifference of masculine violence, added Öztürk. "Death of Ferinaz is a resistance. But, this is a murder of patriarchal capitalism. Fire started by Ferinaz has poured growing anger againt male and state violence into the streets in Iran," she ended her speech.

Özbudun: If AKP actualises its project, we'll hanker for Iran

Speaking lastly, Associate Professor Sibel Özbudun drew attention on socio-economical factors that triggering violence towards women. Özbudun put emphasis on the woman policies in Turkey and said, "If the AKP government actualises its project, we'll hanker for Iran."
