İZMİR (DİHA)
- Eight theatre-lover women, who want to spare their off-time to art, constituted a theatre team comprised of factory workers.

The women have chosen theatre play named "May womanhood stay with us" written by Yılmaz Erdoğan and are rehearsing it for about three months. It will be scened at Bayraklı Yamanlar Muhtarlık Hall in Izmir on the occasion of March 8 International Woman Day. One of the women named Gönül Karadağ said they actualised this idea to do a thing in favor of the society. She noted, "I am actualising my dreams at the theatre scene."

From factory to theatre hall

"My goal was always theatre. There was theatre on the focus of my life," stated Karadağ and added, "Last year, we spoke about theatre in the dining hall of the factory on March 8 and everybody laughed at us. At first, noone supported us. I shared my idea with some other worker friends in the plant and then I set up this team. We then met with theatre educator Soner Gülünç. He educated us voluntarily. We are walking fast following work hours to rehearse the play."

Appeal on women: Don't scared of

Another women player Fehime Etek said she loved theatre much just like her friend Karadağ. "I want to spend all my off-time with theatre," Etek said. She told, "To become on the scene makes me so much happy. I am calling on all the women. Do not scared of anything. Women can do whatever they want."

'Support us'

Educator Soner Gülünç said the women were fairly successful at the theatre in spite of taking scene this for the first time. Gülünç underlined, "It is meaningful and important that working women are coming here and rehearsing the plays on their off-time. I am happy to be with them. Everybody must support us, help us, then women will not be murdered. Because, women will notice their power and won't be intimidated."
