TZOB: Farmers still Crushed under Inflation

ANKARA (DİHA)- Turkish Chamber of Agriculture (TZOB) General President Ş. Şemsi Bayraktar, said that we should not infer false evaluations from monthly inflation. Bayraktar, said that farmers are crushed under inflation according to annual inflation numbers.



TZOB president Bayraktar, who gave a written report on the inflation numbers of October issued by State Institute of Statistics (DİE), said that in comparison to last year the distinction in the index of producer's prices increased 0.68 per cent, in industry 0.38 per cent in terms of sectors, in agriculture 1.86 per cent. Bayraktar, who said that the change for agricultural products is normal, said: 'When the producer's price index is taken at hand according to the same month of last year, the increase is 2.57 per cent in general and in agriculture it is 1.93 per cent. The producer's price index in agricultural sector has increased in inflation less than the year before. Approximate inflation data indicated a similar situation. According to the 12-month mean averages the producer's price index in general, increased by 8.16 per cent. In the agricultural sector it is 4.02 per cent, half of the general. According to the 12-month average, the rise in the producer's price fell behind the inflation.'



Emphasizing that we should not make any false evaluations by looking at the monthly inflation numbers, he said that farmers are still crushed under inflation by the annual inflation numbers.
