Yüksekdağ: Government must change its mentality
MERSİN (DİHA) - Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) General Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ has joined in the press statement held in Free Minor Park for Özgecan Aslan murdered in Tarsus district of Mersin.
Yüksekağ visited workers laid off by MHP municipality and then participated into the solidarity action with women. Speaking in the act, Yüksekdağ noted the motive behind women murders was the policies of AKP government. She underlined, "The government must change its mentality before everything to inhibit such massacres against women."
'If President does so, what psychopat men will not do?'
Yüksekdağ stated the government was provoking the killers with its policy and law and added, "Violence against women is not business of several men or assaillants. Men are on the role of instigators by the President and goverment. The motive behind killing of Özgecan is insistence of government of instigator. Those applying violence to women are not punished by this government, but awarded. President himself said, 'Do not go out, if you expose to violence, scream out'. If the government officials and President do so, what psychopat men will not do?"
'Riot is right, right of women to riot is so legitimate'
"Violence is both in the streets and in the state institutions," drew attention Yüksekdağ and went on her speech: "So much so that violence towards women has been applied at the Parliament by AKP deputies two days ago. We will not overlook them to put women on the target board. Riot is right, right of women to riot is so legitimate. All resistance of women is legitimate. Riot is legitimate both at the Parliament and in the street."
In the wake of speech, mass of women chanted slogans of "Woman, life, freedom" and condoled the family.
