'KJA gave hope to us, we want to be a part of it'
İSTANBUL (DİHA) – Kongra Jinên Azad (KJA - Free Women's Congress) announced its foundation after the first Women Congress that was attributed to Rojava Revolution headed by women.
The Congress explained that in order to fight against ideological and systematic attacks against women, they will work in collaboration with women movements in Kurdistan, Middle East and other world women movements.
‘Model of KJA’s organization is very important’
The member of the Foundation for Solidarity with Women (KADAV) Semiha Arı stated that KJA started with the motto saying “No women should remain unorganisated” and this is very important for women struggle. “The more women are organized, the more it is spread, we can revolt stronger against this sexist society and the power of the state”, added Arı. Rojava Revolution and Kobanê victory have shown us how vital self-defense and self-organization is, and this was an important reason for the formation of KJA.
‘Kurdish women movement strongly forms its alliance’
The member of the New Solutions for Women's Human Rights Association Zelal Ayman stated that like HDP’s (Peoples' Democratic Party) emphasis on alliance with the west, we also aim the same. Ayman, “women movements of Turkey is also determinant in this regard because alliances cannot be formed with the will of both sides. The nationalist reflexes that accumulated over the years makes it harder to form alliances in this regard”.
“The more Turkish women movement becomes flexible towards Kurdish struggle and Kurdish women and the more they overcome their nationalist reflexes, the more it is going to be likely to form alliances”, concluded Ayman.
