Thousands of youngs march for Kobanê in Hannover

NEWS CENTER (DİHA) - While celebrations for the unification of east and west Germany continued, over 2 thousands youths, most of them Germans, marched towards the Turkish consulate in order to condemn the attacks by ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham) gangs on Kobanê. The youths were stopped by hundreds of police near the consulate.

The celebration of the unification of the 2 Germanies is organised in different provinces each year. The celebrations took place in Lower Saxony, with the president Joachim Gauck and the prime minister Angela Merkel travelling to the capital of the state, Hannover. During a huge concert organised in Opernplatz square within the scope of the celebrations yesterday evening, a group of people organised a demonstration spontaneously in order to support the resistance of Kobanê, which is under attack from ISIS gangs. The number of youths increased at around 22:00. They started to march, shouting the slogans “long live the resistance of Kobanê, Turkey is supporting, the ISIS is killing”.

'Lift the ban on the PKK'

The number of the protestors consisting of leftist Germans, and democrat youths, exceeded 2 thousand. The police tried to stop the youths marching in the centre of the city, but they resisted and continued to march. They demanded the German government react for Kobanê as soon as possible and to remove the prohibition of the PKK, which is resisting the attacks by ISIS gangs. Demanding that the German government put pressure on the Turkish AKP government in order to end its support for the ISIS gangs, the youths supported the resistance of Kobanê with slogans and condemned the attacks by the ISIS gangs.

The youths wanting to march to the building of the Turkish consulate to condemn Turkish State support for the ISIS gangs, were stopped by hundreds of police near the consulate. The youths organised a short rally and the rally then ended close to midnight.
