Mesopotamia Academy of Social Sciences opened in Qamishlo

QAMISHLO (DİHA) - The first university of Rojava (West Kurdistan) was opened yesterday in Qamishlo city of Cezîre Canton. The university was named as Mesopotamia Academy of Social Sciences and is going to offer various courses in three departments, history, sociology and law.

Co-president of Cizîre Canton Hediye Yûsif, members of Institution of Martyrs' Families, Member of Executive Committee of TEV-DEM Henîfe Hisên and Minister of Education Mihemed Salih Ebdo, students of Celadet Bedîrxan Language and Literature Academy and Law Academy attended the opening ceremony in Hilêliyê neighborhood of Qamişlo.

'Rojava Revolution is revolution of freedom, education, idea and ideology'

Hediye Yûsif said that students studying in Mesopotamia Academy will play a significant role in education system in Rojava. Salih Ebdo noted in his speech that democratic autonomy becomes a reality day by day. "Rojava Revolution is revolution of freedom, education, idea and ideology. I repeat my call on all Kurdish parties to organize a national congress and form a joint defense force", added Ebdo.

'Mesopotamia Academy is a present for leader Öcalan'

TEV-DEM member Henîfe Hisên said "If leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) hears that this academy is opened, he will be so happy. Mesopotamia Academy is a present for leader Öcalan." The academy registered 30 students and is going to launch the courses next week. The students will be offered education for free in the academy.
