MARDIN (DİHA) - A signboard with 4 different languages has been hung up at the co-mayoral building of the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality.

The co-mayor Februniye Akyol said that they had taken a first and huge step in order to end a great shortcoming. Different cultures, religions and languages have lived together for thousands of years. In order to protect this originality, the Mardin metropolitan municipality has introduced something new. For the first time, the municipality has introduced a service in four different languages in Mardin. The Mardin Metropolitan Municipality hung up a signboard with 4 languages at the entrance of the service building of the municipality within the scope of multilingual service.

'Cultures, languages and beliefs live together'

On the entrance gate of the municipality, a signboard in Kurdish, Turkish, Arabic and Syriac has been hung up. The co-mayor of the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, Februniye Akyol, stated her views thus: "You can hear different languages in every street in Mardin. Kurdish, Syriac, Arabic, Turkish… The sound of the bell mixes with the sound of the azan. It creates a new harmony. Cultures, languages and beliefs live together, all these differences are accepted as part of our wealth. We know the value of togetherness. The municipality carrying out services for the people have not until now provided these services to the people in Mardin. This was a big deficiency. We proudly took the first step in order to rectify this situation. May it go well for the people of Mardin."
