HEWLER (DİHA) - An Irish photographer is candidate for one of the most ‘prestigious’ awards in photography for documenting some scenes of everyday life in Federal Kurdistan Region.

The photographer, Ivor Prickett, 29, has been elected as one of the most successful photographers for the last 12 months. Prickett has some works that has been published in a number of UK's most famous newspapers. His most known works include portraits of Iraqi refugees living underground and his portraits of Sunday Times' war correspondent Marie Colvin in Tahrir Square in Egypt in 2012 which were published as her last images after she had been killed.

Prickett`s ‘Kurdistan is Booming’, which documents everyday life in Federal Kurdistan 10 years after the Operation Iraqi Freedom, has been selected for the Sony shortlist by a number of photography experts among 140,000 images from photographers of 166 countries. The chosen images will be showed in London in May in the framework of 2014 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition, for which the winners of the Open and Youth categories will be named on March 18, while the professional category winner will be announced on April 30 at a gala ceremony in London.
