MARDİN (DİHA) - Children aged between 5 and 13 from eastern province Mardin are contributing to their families by selling hand made wristbands, necklaces and chaplets with the beginning of the tourism season.

Opening small benches in front of the historical mosques and churches, they are selling the souvenirs that they made themselves. One of them Resul Tas (11) opening his bench in front of the Kasimiye Madrasah states that his father is retired and he wants to contribute to his family by selling the souvenirs that he made with the beads he bought in Mardin Bazaar but he earns only one YTL per day.

The youngest of them Salih Canki (5) says he has difficulties in collecting the beads for the souvenirs. "Tourists are coming but they do not buy our goods. I learn 0.5 YTL. It is not easy to make these souvenirs but still it fun to deal with them." said Canki.

Selling souvenirs that she made in front of the Kasimiye Madrasah, Gul Tas (12) says his father is a gasholder but as they have economical difficulties she helps her father. "I am making these souvenirs with the beads that I bought from the Bazaar together with my brothers. We are trying to sell these to the tourists visiting here but they do not buy them much." said she.
