Industry Congress 2005 Conference Starts 2005-12-17 11:58:04 ANKARA (DİHA) - TMMOB Industry Congress 2005 Conference started in Conference Hall of National Library. TMMOB Director of Board Mehmet Soğancı said that in the process of globalization, the bargain on labor force has accelerated, the rower of unions have been confined to quite an extent, and the violation of the right of the worker with low wage have been settled on a legal ground. TMMOB Industry Congress 2005 Conference organized by Chamber of Mechanical Engineers started in Conference Hall of National Library. Emin Koramaz, board director of TMMOB Chamber of Mechanical Engineers, who gave the initial speech, said, by drawing attention to the fact that Turkey is the only great country that went into a unity of customs with the EU, that the same policy of trade with the EU is rendered under unequal conditions and that all the industrial sectors are under foul influence of this. Koramaz, who said that Turkey has become an open market for the third countries because of the union of customs, emphasized that the pact of union in customs should be suspended until negotiations for full membership have been completed. Koramaz, who said that the globalization processes have caused destructions in social life, spoke: 'We have to give up economic and social policies implemented in the guidance of international monetary associations and applications that exclude production, investment, industrialization, science, technology, engineers and humans; we have to assume planning orientations.' 'Turkey is a paradise of cheap labor' TMMOB board director Mehmet Soğancı said, drawing attention to the meeting 'Democratic Turkey, Budget for People' that will be held today, that 'whoever has an objection to what is going on in the country' will talk about their demands there. He said that bargaining for work force has been accelerated in the globalization process, and power of unions have been confined to quite an extent and violation of the rights of the employee with low wages have been grounded on a legal base. 'Turkey is a paradise of cheap labor and the share of wage in the added value tax of industry is planned to be minimized. Likewise, the increase of the added value per both an employee and the number of hours worked have been quite small within the last five years.' Soğancı, who stated that it did not get on well except for a happy minority in the country, said that demand of people here in a sense of social state should have already been met, but that the capital is nothing except for a proper practice of the roles given to the state and the political power in the new practice of domestic imperialism of Turkey in the globalization process.
