Journalist Canözer taken into custody for being 'nervous' 2015-12-19 12:46:57 DİYARBAKIR (DİHA) - An additional 24 hours of detention period has been requested for JİNHA reporter Beritan Canözer who had been taken into custody while following up news in Diyarbakır. Beritan Canözer, journalist of Women’s News Agency (JİNHA) who had been taken into custody during following up the protest march against the curfew declared in Sur district of Diyarbakır has been taken into custody for being “nervous”. According to the report of JİNHA, it has been claimed that Canözer has been taken into custody by special operation police teams on the grounds of “reasonable doubt”. Though having said “I am a journalist and following up news”, it has been claimed that she had “directed the protest march” and stated that she had been “taken into custody due to her nervous manners while when captured”. Being forced to get on a Ford Ranger by police and taken into custody, Canözer is being held in Diyarbakır Provincial Security Directorate Anti Terror Unit for 48 hours. An additional 24 hours of detention period has been requested for Canözer who has testified in the police department. (nt)
