9 areas in Şırnak declared 'military security zones' 2015-08-01 10:15:39 ŞIRNAK (DİHA) - While Turkish military operations continue uninterruptedly in line with the total warfare concept recently put into effect by the AKP government, the Governor of Şırnak has declared nine areas "prohibited military zones" for a period of 15 days. The areas of Bestler-Dereler, İncebel mountains, Faraşin region, Altın mountains, Cudi mountain, Küpeli mountain, Kureşin and Karaçalı hills and Dağlıca-Pavan have been declared “temporary military security zones” for operations by the Turkish military. A statement by the Governor's Office said that the mentioned areas have been declared "military security zones" for 15 days to enable freedom of movement for soldiers and to hinder damage for the civilians during the operations to be conducted in order for the destruction of the outbuildings near the cemeteries of PKK members and the neutralization of organization's members around these cemeteries. The statement remarked that the period for temporary military security zones will later be extended to six months in accordance with a decision by the Cabinet. (nt)
