Call for solidarity with women's libraries in Efrîn and Maxmur 2015-03-20 11:10:54 ANKARA (DİHA) - A new life is flourishing in Efrîn Canton of Rojava (West Kurdistan) and Maxmur town of South Kurdistan in the middle of a relentless war. Alongside the resistance against ISIS, women are building their new living spaces. Ankara Women’s Solidarity Library Initiative (Ankara Kadın Dayanışması Kütüphanesi Girişimi) initiated a campaign for the women in Efrîn and Maxmur. The initiative stated, "Let’s be in solidarity with our sisters! Let’s construct a Women’s Library in Efrin and Maxmur together! Let’s share our books; our women’s history books, feminist theory books, our books on women’s biographies, mytholgy and other books we think that they are must for a women’s library. The books can be in English, Kurdish and Turkish. We can also share novels and story books." The statement of the initiative has called for also financial support and added, "In addition to printed books you can also share electronic books in pdf format. And, if you are a scholar or a writer, you can send one copy of your books or you can ask the scholars and writers you know for sharing one copy of their books. Or you can communicate with the editors and publishing houses and ask them for contributing the campaign by sending books. Or you can provide financial support for printing of electronic books."
