Kurdish theater players from Ankara join YPG ranks 2014-08-17 11:07:40 ANKARA (DİHA) - Kurdish theater actors Eren Aziz and Bünyamin Adıyaman, founders of TiyatRoj Theater Group, have left Turkey to join the ranks of West Kurdistan's People's Protection Units (YPG). Tiyatroj is a revolutionary theater group founded in Ankara in 2012 on the basis of the freedom struggle in Kurdish lands and using art as a means of fight for the Kurdish people and Kurdistan. The group has performed dozens of plays on both the street and the stage, trying to reveal the massacres, murders, rapes and the dirty face of the state since it was founded two years ago. Aziz and Adıyaman- the Kurdish art group said- will be continuing their struggle in the ranks of YPG forces to call attention to the ongoing war in South Kurdistan and to fulfill their duty for the people and martyrs of Kurdistan. 'Very self of capitalist modernity is sole responsible for massacres' Aziz and Adıyaman who expressed in a letter their reason to join the Kurdish resistance against ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham) gangs in Rojava said they choose to side with struggle and freedom against the unprecedented brutal attacks targeting the people's differences and seek for freedom in an unnamed third world war. Remarking that the very self of capitalist modernity is the sole responsible for the massacres being committed in Rojava, Sinjar and Palestine, Aziz and Adıyaman stressed that; "A torch of freedom has been lit in the Middle East, and this must be known very well by all capitalist states, Turkey being in the first place, that encircle and inspect the people all the time, try to discipline them, impose themselves on the peoples, bearing and maintaining a monist, nationalist, gendered, discriminatory and homophobic mentality. This is a the torch of gender-libertarian and ecological and democratic mentality. Before us we see the light that will demolish the sense of individuality which is plundered from its nature to the spirit, concreted, self-interested and is at the same blessed and marketable.” Emphasis on historical responsible “Just next to us is a revolution is being made, while on the other side international dark powers are trying to extinguish the torch of freedom by means of a war which is based on death, violence and fear and committed by ravenous subcontractors of the capitalist modernity. We see this conspiracy”, Kurdish artists said and stressed that it was their historic responsibility to stand by their people while women are being sold at markets handed down from the middle ages, raped, and children are dying of thirst. 'What outweighs in our heart is freedom' “On one side of the scale, we place capitalism's promises for a comfortable life, cars, houses, much money, shopping, super- and hyper-markets, and thereagainst hunger, death of workers, murder of trans people, the monist mindset of the totalitarian regime, and the public enemy state with all its institutions and establishments, and on the other side of the scale we place freedom and rebuilding of the humanity. What outweighs in our heart and soul is being a human and freedom.” Call on people “As the struggle for revolutionary art we initiated as TiyatRoj three years ago means to us a violation of all borders, going beyond borders and leaving our struggle for revolutionary art in Ankara, we are going to join the YPG ranks to become a part of a greater struggle in Mesopotamia lands where people will attain revolution and freedom in a century witnessing the failure of humanity and the fading of hopes for a revolution”, Kurdish artists underlined. Eren Aziz and Bünyamin Adıyaman ended their letter by calling on all peoples, those in Kurdistan in particular, to become a part of the struggle, and all other revolutionary comrades to enhance the international struggle.
