Filmmor Women's Film Festival in Mersin 2014-04-06 10:49:19 MERSİN (DİHA) - The independent International Filmmor Women's Film Festival on Wheels, organized by Filmmor Women’s Cooperative, has begun for the 12th time. Demanding a purse, an income, a budget of her own for every woman, the festival will screen 60 films in four cities. The Festival kicked off in Istanbul with screenings in Institut Français, Istanbul Modern and Pera Museum between March 15-23. The festival meets with its audience in Mersin between April 5-6, in Adana between April 12-13, and finally in Bodrum, Mugla on April 19 and 20. The festival commemorates Bilge Olgaç, the woman director who made the highest number of films in Turkey's cinema with three of her films: Hunger/ Açlık, Silky/ İpekçe,The Spoon Haters/ Kaşık Düşmanı. Filmmor Women’s Cooperative, established exclusively for women in 2003, works to make movies, to raise objections, to produce, to dream and to realize for women together with women. The Cooperative's objective is to increase involvement of women in cinema and in the media, to enhance the communication and production areas, opportunities and power of women to express themselves in this field, and to disseminate non-sexist representation and experiences of women.
