WB Turkey Country Director Vorkink in Diyarbakır 2005-06-17 17:32:25 DIYARBAKIR (DIHA)- World Bank's Turkey Country Director Andrew Vorkink has come to the southeastern city of Diyarbakır to make some due diligences on the Reducing Social Risks Project by visiting Deputy Governor Ahmet Aydın in his office to exchange their views on the matter. As the World Bank, we aim at examining the projects on due diligences rather than on the table, says Andrew Vorkink, and they will examine projects leading the Reducing Social Risks Project supported by the World Bank on the spot in Diyarbakır, so they will continue with the Conditional Money Transportation, a join project of the World Bank and the Turkish government prepared with the of urging the families to send their children to school. "Till the mid 2006, the World Bank is going to continue financing the project, but the government will have started lasting the Conditional Money Transportation by that time". "This program we have been supporting in terms of finance will have finished by the mid 2006, which does not mean that the program of the government will also have ended. Especially, I am highlighting this. Even if the World Bank forgoes supporting, the administration will keep on these. Our role was to start these stages and then to live the continuation of this work to the government in long term. A significant result of this is that there has been a sharp increase in the count of children registered in schools; besides, an improvements in child health showed an increase. In this latter project, mothers also were provided with assistance. We believe that this project will provide a pretty investment for children in Turkey. The government is definitely of the same opinion with us on this matter, and is intent to last financial support, too. In 2006, the Conditional Money Transportation will be continued by the Turkish government. No one should worry about this", said Vorkink. After the negation with Deputy Governor of Diyarbakır Aydın held as closed to the press, Vorkink is going make examinations at the Fatih Paşa Woman and Child Rehabilitation Center, on the Computer Room Project for Children and Youths and the Breeding Sheep Project-Kuşbalığı Village.
